/ / JORNADAS LIVEMEDIA 2007 : THE MEDIATISED WEB Edificio Miramar, c/Davallada, Sitges (Barcelona) Tuesday 11th December to Friday 14th December, 16.30h - 20.30h presentation (castellano / català ) | programme schedule | map of Sitges PRESENTATION OF "JORNADAS LIVEMEDIA 2007" : THE MEDIATISED WEB Within the context of the ongoing programme LIVEMEDIA 2007, the conference THE MEDIATISED WEB will present a series of debates culminating in an open session, where attendents to the conference (both in presence and online) respond to the previous debates with their own proposals for a “mediatised web”. JORNADAS LIVEMEDIA 2007 can be viewed via livestream media on this website. Persons "attending" via the livestream are encouraged to participate via the accompanying chat and for the open session (Session 4, YOUR PROPOSALS FOR MEDIATIZATION), via video Skype. The intention of the conference is to address the problematics of communication on the Web through its emergent and current "mediatisations". The conference will analyse the potentialities of these mediatisations from the point of view of different cultural practices (art on the web, corporate web development, terrestrial television, multimedia, IP networks. . .), academic studies, and audiovisual production. "JORNADAS LIVEMEDIA 2007" : THE MEDIATISED WEB has received academic validation for students of the University of Barcelona (2.5 credits). Problematics open to discussion include : How is live communication on the Internet being constructed ? How does the aesthetic become the precursor of communicative behaviour ? If the Web is evolving into a live communication tool, how will it continue to aid the multiple durations of disparate cultural formations and milieus that already interact and combine within the transformative topology of the Web ? What is the relevance of old media communication to new media communication? What is superseded? What is complemented ? Is the Internet an isolated environment ? Will it always be too virtual ? How is it possible to try to contextualise Internet as "live media" in contrast to other environments already established as "live media" such as performance art, surveillance video cameras, radio, television, theatre, telecommunications, live music ? What makes a medium "live" ? Conference speakers are invited from the fields of education, communication media, and arts and culture. The conference will be documented on Laboratorio Live Media’s website and will form part of a subsequent publication on LIVEMEDIA 2007.
